My work at TiKo involves managing the QA process and team. I joined in April to help automate a bunch of test cases on the legacy platform and extended my offering to set up the actual team. I helped with basic tasks like: establishing a good bug reporting process and lifecycle, test case documentation, creating a regression suite, refining the release process, including automated testing for the web platforms by implementing cypress from scratch and overall work with the scrum master and tech lead to oil the relationship between the team and the quality ideals we want to reach with our product. My current focus revolves around sharing my extensive experience in visual testing to provide support to the UX/UI design team so the SDLC is fully covered by QA from planning to release.

I worked on the MIP, the new platform from QuanticMind before being acquired by Centro/Basis. My tasks revolved around establishing the quality process from scratch, on a very dynamic scenario where the “Startup mentality” was extremely challenging on aspects like quality. Together with product and development stakeholders, my daily responsibilities included understanding functionality while considering usability and reliability at each step to provide confidence to the entire development team’s efforts. This approach, 12 months into development, enhanced our velocity. The choice of cypress as the framework for testing, in my opinion, is crucial in refactoring and maintaining tests together with the FE engineers (a key aspect to how fast we can deliver).

As a frontend developer in MediaMonks, I worked on several agency projects from clients like Google, Techint, OPI, the Olympic games committee, and Aeromexico. My daily tasks included scoping, planning, implementing, and delivering solutions to the above-mentioned clients on tight deadlines and fast-paced feedback rounds. Having worked at R/GA I was very familiar and comfortable with the agency dynamics so my experience was an overall great way to further my development skills.

As a freelance developer for Aldea Global, I have successfully migrated around 30 websites from flash/php/apache (old client sites) to newer stacks. My main stack was migrating from EJS/Mongo/Express/Node to React/Firebase. The largest project I have worked on implementing and integrating is a series of rest APIs that provide multimedia content to a platform developed entirely over node. My approach was to serve different sections of a virtual learning campus through various services that come together under a “main” platform controlling API. Additional tasks included automated testing of my development. My go-to tool for this was Cypress since it simplifies programmatic login/authentication to APIs while maintaining the session through a test suite if I choose to, and it fits my e2e testing criteria and timeline perfectly due to its ease of use and “no state keeping”.

I worked on an hourly basis as a freelance consultant QA to assist in the implementation of QA processes that helped this San Francisco-based startup free up their other roles to focus on their specific tasks. Having grown considerably and expanded to several platforms, I established the baseline for quality acceptance practices. My collaboration was been split between manual/UX/UI efforts, and CI/Automation implementation. The biggest challenge we were able to successfully overcome was the remote modality and the communication pain points that it entails.

Community speaker, presenting project challenges and ways we overcome them in the daily practice, to aid in the transition of functional testers into the automation path and of course, gain feedback from more experienced automation testers in the choices we made. Tool/Framework review and validation before implementation on our projects. Overall analysis and risk consideration towards providing scalable and cost-efficient maintainable products.

Tasks included mobile and web testing (iOS, Android apps, web apps. Cross-browser, cross-platform, UAT, black box, functional testing) Product testing on AEM platform development for one of our clients. (Black box, functional testing, UAT) Virtual reality testing (Oculus Rift, HTC Vive, Cardboard, Samsung Gear VR) Automation testing (basic NodeJs/selenium/Nightwatch test case writing for web apps) 360 image and video creation (Autopano Giga/Video, VideoStitch, Unity, Maya3d) Design and test of GoPro rigs. Prototyping and implementation on potential client projects. Problem analysis and solution design. Involvement in UX and QA/QE tasks alike. IoT research to tackle environmental problems and data analysis in Asia and South America.
